Steve Hillier is a platinum-selling songwriter, music producer, composer, DJ, and recording artist known for his work across electronic music, pop, and alternative genres.

Steve first gained acclaim in the 1990s with his band Dubstar, before going on to write toplines and collaborate with modern artists including Flosstradamus, Trentemøller, Hannah Trigwell and Aryay (OWSLA). His solo releases include piano compositions under his own name, and electronic music under the aliases GGGGHOST and POLITEK. In 2026, POLITEK released a run of new singles including Halo, OOO, Gen e 6, The Rest of Our Lives and Impossible. As a producer and remixer, Steve has worked with a diverse range of artists from Keane to Bananarama to ElkkaBright Light Bright Light, Luvia, Dog in the Snow and many more. Steve is also an experienced music journalist and technology writer. His first published article, a computer program the reader could type into their Spectrum was published in Sinclair User at the age of twelve, and has since contributed to Music Technology magazine, Future Music magazine, Computer Music magazine, and various podcasts and websites including BBC worldwide website. He also contributes to SonicTalk and is a regular guest on a variety of music podcasts.

In addition to his creative work, Steve designs and delivers degree-level music courses in songwriting, music composition, music production, music business, and music technology. He has taught at leading institutions including Middlesex University (Point Blank), Sussex University (BIMM) and Falmouth University (Waterbear). He currently lectures at postgraduate level at WATERBEAR Brighton on songwriting and creativity.
